StarDust the Novel Vs The Movie

Just finished the short novel. As expected there are more characters in the book compared to the movie.

~Spoiler ahead for movie goers~

The big difference in the book and the movies are

Captain Shakespeare plays only a small part in book(about 3 pages), the movie took it farther and developed the character and giving him a name. Which I enjoy watching.

The candle was not given by Trsitran's Mom based on the Novel but the little hairy man which also tied the knot b/w Tristran Father and Mother.

The Witch Queen did not die in the novel. She did not hunt down the star for the star heart no longer belongs to her as she has given it away. Therefore, there is no need to hunt down the star anymore. Good for a children book. However, in the big screen we need the villain and their diabolic way to makes thing interesting.

Something I did not expect from the end in the Novel was that Tristran and Yvaine did not have children in the end. For Yvaine was not able to have one due to her being a star(why?) and she out live Tristran in the end. She rule the land after Tristran left the world. A Sad quiet ending for my part. Luckily, the movie ending was much blissful than the book.

Now I just borrow the Golden Compass to read and I'll be catching that movie in Dec!
